Local residents prepare to dazzle at Springvale Ball
August 9, 2012 by Mark
The City of Greater Dandenong and Kingston Council have come together to create The
Springvale Ball, which will take place at Springvale Town Hall this August. This ball is similar to a debutante ball in style but has been organised for locals in the area who have disabilities.
Thirty-six people will take part in the ball and they have been attending dance lessons regularly in preparation. Two of these participants are Leslie Downie and William Bell from Frankston North. Leslie suffers from an intellectual disability and is enthusiastic about taking part. She recently said of the event:
"I'm nervous but also excited”
Organisers of The Springvale Ball believe it will be a fantastic event for all those who participate and attend. Not only will there be dancing but there will also be a three-course meal and a fantastic selection of entertainment.
Many different organisations, such as Scope, the Tiara Project, and Dancesport Specialists are all assisting with the event. Many are offering their time and services in different ways, so the night is highly enjoyable for all those involved.
Events like this ball often use poster printing and
flyer printing to gain exposure. Those who have organised the event and those participating in it have all worked extremely hard and it is now time for people in Dandenong and nearby to enjoy the show and demonstrate their support.
The Springvale Ball will take place on Saturday, August 18 and tickets are available to purchase online.
