Fairfax Media Restructures Melbourne Offices
July 19, 2011 by Mark
Fairfax Media has made the decision to restructure its Melbourne division. This move has led to the consolidation of Fairfax Community Newspapers and The Age.
The restructure was put into place with the intent of streamlining the business. Essentially Fairfax wants to reshape its business model so that it becomes easier to meet their yearly financial goals.
This has led to new staff appointments as well as alterations in current job descriptions. Zara Bullivant has been appointed as the sales director of the entire Melbourne publishing division and it is her responsibility to oversee the merger between the Fairfax Community Newspapers and The age.
The marketing and sponsorship manager of The Age, Briony Amey has been given the role of the marketing director of both The Age and Fairfax Community Newspapers. Another important appointment is the business is that of Stephen Humphrey. Humphrey was the business director for The Age. His new role is the business and operating director of Melbourne Publishing.
The consolidation of these two businesses will be very beneficial to the company. Not only will these changes lead to a more streamlined production process, it will also save the company a large amount of money on printing services and other costs in the long run. Consumers will also benefit from the changes as they will be able to access more relevant news due to some elements of the community newspapers being changed or dropped altogether.
In the past Fairfax Community Newspapers serviced a wide range of suburbs in the Melbourne area. Some of these include St. Kilda, Moorabbin and Brighton.
