September 10, 2011 by James
The International Multi-disciplinary Printmaking Conference (IMPACT) is coming to the Caulfield campus of Monash University on September 27-30. Among the topics covered at the conference will be printmaking, photography and graphic design. This is an important conference that all those in the printing industry will want to attend; it is a chance to learn something new, a chance to share what they know and the opportunity to mingle with their industry peers from all over the world.
IMPACT 7 is a biennial conference which takes place in a different country each time; the first was held in the UK and others have been held in South Africa and Poland. This year’s conference will feature six keynote talks; the eight speakers who will be taking part include artists and professors of such subjects as printmaking and graphic design. Each keynote speech will last for 90 minutes which includes time for questions and answers at the end. Fees for the four-day conference are $450 for the complete program ($250 for students); one day costs $125 ($75 for students) and single sessions cost $50 each. Tickets can also be purchased for the conference BBQ for $55.
The conference will consist of workshops, demonstrations of new techniques and products, lectures, print exhibitions, folio presentations, poster presentations and a product fair. The product fair will feature suppliers to the industry such as paper manufacturers and etching suppliers, printing companies, book publishers and organizations such as the Print Council of Australia.
