Komori’s shows Aussie printers how to cut costs

The general manager from Komori Graphic Centre, Neil Wrigglesworth told Australian printers how they could make significant savings by using its eco-friendly technology to compete with digital.

Wrigglesworth, who travelled from the Japanese printing manufacturer’s head office to an event hosted by industrial services giant Ferrostaal, demonstrated how the Komori's KHS-AI could save Australian Print company in print companies printing services print companies over $350, 000 over five years.

"We calculated that the smart sequencing of the KHS-AI can save printers around $370,000 over five years," he said.

"When you add on the reductions in paper, power, wastage and consumables you are looking at a saving of $395,000."

Already successfully implemented in Europe, the efficient functionality enables fast job changeovers and wastage is reduced by using job data.

Wrigglesworth also discussed Komori’s newly launched G40 'green' press which can be used with the KHS-AI or its H-UV curing system for short and longer jobs to enable more efficient print runs.

Ferrostaal’s Australian chief executive Markus Haefeli said:

"One of the main messages we want to get across is that the two technologies the H-UV and KHS-AI are pushing our abilities in 'offset on demand', which are very much targets the digital sector," he said.

"Printers can do runs as low as 1000 or 2000, which can be taken off the press completely dry, the quality is better than digital and you avoid scuffing, flaking and chipping."
