Networking Bootcamps – not just for fitness
January 1, 2012 by James
The Women's Network Australia has launched a series of events called Networking Bootcamp. Along with their regular Networking Luncheons, WNA supports women in business to learn the benefits of networking and how to best promote themselves amongst their peers.
Self-promotion can be a struggle for many, so learning to harness relationships for the benefit of one’s own business is an opportunity no one should miss. The bootcamp sessions, held in Melbourne and other capital cities, require participants to bring appropriate marketing materials with them, so they should be sure to head down to the local brochure printers or have some
business card printing done before attending. Businesses from nearby places such as
Moorabbin could benefit from attending.
Lynette Palmen is regarded as an Australian self-promotion and networking expert. Practicing what she now teaches other women, she founded Women’s Network Australia 22 years ago, and the organisation now supports more than 40,000 business women each year.
On her website, www.womensnetwork.com.au, Lynette says:
"Many women shy away from blowing their own trumpet in fear of being seen to be self-opinionated or perceived as hogging the limelight. Get over it, because no-one will ever know what your product or service does or how it can be of benefit, unless you get comfortable with networking and self-promotion."
In this women only event, participants will learn to overcome their fear of networking and how to develop effective business networks. Even the bootcamp itself is an opportunity to market at an expo table or pass out flyers and network with other business women.
