Print companies in Broadmeadows
It’s been a long time since the Broadmeadows area was settled by pastoralists. Nowadays, ‘Broadie’ is a thriving, working class but upwardly mobile suburb, and over a third of its large population was born overseas.Other than English, the most common languages spoken at home are Arabic and Turkish, meaning many print companies have to print items like flyers in a number of languages.
Broadmeadows comes under the Hume Council, which is only 15 to 20 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD and the Port of Melbourne. Industry is varied and numerous, meaning a thriving printing industry to support it. Hume, which boasts over 10,000 businesses, with AU$500 million invested in one of the fastest growing economic communities in the country.
The print industry is in very good company – with the automotive, aviation, manufacturing, retail, education, hospitality, transport and storage sectors very well represented, as well as a world class infrastructure which includes Melbourne Airport and a network of major freeways.
Yet Broadmeadows is also a home, and major projects such as the Broadmeadows Town Park will provide open space that is consciously multifunctional, sustainable and green. In fact, general strategic planning is focussed on Broadmeadows’s becoming the primary activity centre for suburbs in Melbourne’s north, covering housing, community and open space, jobs and businesses – great news for printing companies. There is even a Council/State government plan for a linear park that will connect pedestrians and cyclists with all of their local destinations, travelling along a disused rail corridor. Some are more inclined toward adrenaline, of course, and Broadmeadows’s Motocross park is very popular with both adults and children.
Broadmeadows shopping centre is a mall of more than 61,120 sq m, with over 200 specialty stores, and there are also several smaller shopping precincts in mixed-use streets for those looking for a more traditional shopping-based stroll. In such a bustling and expanding community, there are plenty of opportunities for the print industry, from company brochures to business cards.
