Print Companies in Prahran
Prahran's been one of
Melbourne's happening, iconic suburbs for years now. It all began in the hippie era, when it became known for its colourful, alternative lifestyle. 'Pran' is still popular, and known now for its arts precinct, as well as its shops, shops and shops. Chapel Street is crowded with the inquisitive and acquisitive, and Greville Street crammed with restaurants and cafe where people spill onto the pavement, sipping, eating and chatting.
Print companies are busy here, where music and theatre venues require flyer and
poster printing, local commerce look for business cards stationery, and tourists search for postcardsof anything from the local tram clanging down Chapel Street, to spectacular Victorian coastal scenes a few hours' drive away.
Ashort walk from uptown and wealthy Toorak and South Yarra, Prahran – always attractive to locals and tourists alike for its life and its nineteenth and early twentieth century architecture – is a mere five kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. Several tram routes pass through Prahran.
This suburb has character, life and sense of history. Many of its buildings are on the heritage listed, including landmark 'Pran Central', now converted into fashionable apartments but was in its former life the Reads Emporium with its copper-clad domes and beacons – sadly no longer operative. The old Prahran Town Hall is also heritage listed. Residential Prahran remains picturesque too, and most locals live in single storey, and some double storey, Victorian and Edwardian terrace houses – nowadays often meticulously restored. Weekend strolling can take residents both shopping or to the small public gardens, including the Victoria Gardens, which were planned and planted in the nineteenth century.
Prahran is covered by the City of Stonnington, which is keen both to preserve the mixed and active lifestyle of the area and to support local business and commerce.
