Print Companies in Scoresby
Scoresby, located 25 km south east of the
Melbourne CBD and which was once a busy market-garden area, now houses many extensive industrial estates where a range of major national and international corporations can be found. Here, for example, is Nintendo’s Australian headquarters. Printing needs are paramount, of course, covering everything that such industries demand, from
digital printing to brochures and catalogues.
For half of the week, the entertainment precinct ‘Caribbean Gardens’ offers activities such as a market, eating, drinking strolling and music, as well as computer swap meets. This all occurs around the Caribbean Lake, which was built for the testing of boats by Caribbean Boats.
By contrast, it is never far to leafy green countryside with some lovely landscapes in the Ferntree Gully foothills or the Rowville and Lysterfield Valley. Not surprisingly, the City of Knox, which covers Scoresby, is proud of its Knox Environmental Awards, which recognise the contributions made by the community in environmental sustainability. Among major projects in Knox are the Stanford Park and Stanford Park Homestead redevelopments, which will give the area a multi-use precinct comprising commercial, residential, public recreation and open space. The potential for the print industry here, in terms of providing a new population with stationery and promotion through flyers, is enormous, and Knox Council’s emphasis on festivals and events provides many opportunities for full colour printing, especially with the showcasing of new programs and visual arts events at the Knox Community Arts Centre.
Public transport is by train, along the Belgrave Line stopping in neighbouring suburbs, and an extensive bus network.
Scoresby and its local print outlet, prospers not only from the presence of industry on large estates and the City of Knox’s Economic Development Unit, but also from Council’s emphasis on a happy and sustainable community aware of its environmental responsibilities.
