Victorian print companies race to get SGP certified
September 12, 2011 by Robyn
Print companies across
Victoria have been getting certified in their droves under the Sustainable Green Print (SGP) certification programme.
So much so that SGP will be running a fresh round of courses in Melbourne and Sydney in October to meet this ever increasing demand. Naturally, the organisers of SGP are delighted there has been such a large take up of the programme, with Bruce Lowery, Printing Industries SGP Co-ordinator for Victoria and Tasmania pleased to see an ongoing ‘greening’ of Victorian
printing companies – especially in rural areas such as Mildura.
SGP, launched back in 2009 by Printing Industries, is Australia’s very own printing industry certification programme designed to assist printing companies across the country in managing and implementing environmentally sustainable practices. These include things such as waste reduction, recycling and cleaner production practices.
The SGP programme consists of four levels of certification which cover the following:
• an introduction to the certification in the first level
• a focus on environmental performance in the second level
• the third level helps companies prepare for ISO4001 certification
• the fourth and final level requires lets companies who are ISO4001 certified go beyond this certification and learn best practice procedures.
The Melbourne level 1 and 2 courses will take place on Wednesday 5 October and Wednesday 12 October at the Printing Industries Mulgrave office right by Springvale.
The Sydney level 1 and 2 courses will be held at their Auburn office on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 October
