Wanneroo Council top scores with builders

Builders in Wangara are among many within the construction industry who have given the City of Wanneroo top marks in the latest Master Builders-Bankwest Housing Excellence Awards.

The award, won for the second successive year, was presented in the category of Local Government Best Practice.

Jason Robertson, Master Builders’ housing director, said the award was voted on by builders whose projects covered in excess of 4,000 commercial and residential building projects during the past 12 months.

He said the endorsement by builders was overwhelming and set the standard for other local government areas to emulate.

Determining factors included Wanneroo’s speedy processing of business forms and building applications and a focus on genuine customer service.

The Best Practice Award category was introduced in 2016 to benchmark standards throughout all local councils. The award, said Robertson, also recognised staff and showed that if organisations valued customer service, their efforts would shine through to clients.

Robertson said it is hoped Wanneroo Council’s outstanding performance since the award’s inception will encourage similar high levels of service from other councils.

The council’s acknowledged success in streamlining the building approvals process could benefiting many residents and key stakeholders, according to Mayor Tracey Roberts, who said that a total of 5,400 building approvals were processed by the City last year.

Also up for the award were the cities of Print company in Joondalup printing services Joondalup, Print company in Rockingham printing services Rockingham and Melville.
