The annual Spring Festival will bring a nautical theme to the City of Whitehorse this year.
Residents of Victoria’s Box Hill South, Nunawading and surrounding areas are set to celebrate the arrival of warmer months with a festival programme aimed at the entire family, according to Council CEO Noelene Duff.
She said an urban sandy beach complete with buckets, spades, beach volleyball facilities, sun loungers, and umbrellas will be created in the city centre as part of the festival.
There will also be mermaid storytellers, a presentation of circus fun by Dreaming Space, and a workshop focused on giant bubbles.
Guiding visitors on a unique underwater experience will be the Funky Monkeys Circus Band.
Duff said the band will use magic, puppetry, storytelling, comedy, and pantomime to bring the seaside and beach to the town centre.
Flyers and brochures advertising the Spring Festival list a host of attractions that range from workshops to special performances, arts and crafts, great food, and sweet treats.
There will also be acrobatic performances by the Blackburn Fly Factory, said Duff. In addition, the festival will showcase independent displays by service providers, interest groups and hobby clubs.
Stage programmes, festival maps and further event information about the Spring Festival, to be held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on October 16, can be accessed on the council website.
