North Lakes to celebrate its multicultural diversity

The annual Moreton Bay Multicultural Fiesta will soon enjoy its 16th year of celebrating the diversity of its people. Residents of North Lakes and other nearby suburbs will be able to join in the fun in Strathpine.

The event’s organiser is the Multicultural Association of Caboolture and Surrounds Inc, known locally as MACS. This is a self-funded, volunteer-run organisation which brings together culturally diverse groups for the purpose of enjoying each other’s food, customs, dancing and other activities.

Through education and mentoring, MACS aims to bridge both cultural divides and generation gaps, in order to enable better social interaction across not only the Moreton Bay region, but greater Queensland as well. The highlight of these activities culminates in this annual celebration of multiculturalism.

This year’s fiesta will include plenty of entertainment in the form of dance and musical showcases, fireworks, free rides for children, and lots of international food. Nationalities and cultures represented will include Japanese, Chinese, African, Indonesian, Indian and Aboriginal Australian.

Amid the celebrations, there will no doubt be opportunities for local printing services too, with banner printing, flyers, or menus required by the various cultural stalls.

The Multicultural Fiesta takes place at the Pine Rivers Park in Strathpine, on Saturday, September 2, from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The event is free, but tickets can be reserved through the Eventbrite website.
