Residents of Croydon, Ringwood and surrounding areas will be in a box seat to experience the wonders of Spiegel Zelt which is one of the original and oldest Spiegeltents operating in the world, when it arrives in the City of Maroondah in 2018.

According to a Council spokesman, the 1919 Belgium-built Spiegel Zelt (also known as a Spiegeltent) is a fully transportable theatre that oozes old-world grace and charm through its many original fittings and fixtures.

Spiegeltent is Dutch for `mirror tent’. It’s a lavish big top, made of canvas and internally it is decorated with extravagant décor such as stained glass, brocade lace, velvet and mirrors.
The opening night will launch a sensational 10-day season of performances by a host of Spiegeltent acts who will take the stage from January 17.

Locals will be entertained by a diverse list of performers with everything from sizzling sassy burlesque and cabaret with Dolores Daiquiri to Circus Oz’s latest show stopper the amazing Neon.

Brochure printing for the event will reveal many Aussie headliners including Colin Lane and David Hobson as well as many tribute shows featuring songs by Bette Midler, Kylie Minogue and Whitney Houston.

The entertainment programme, which runs until January 27, will also cater for children from five years of age and up with comedy show `How to be a Rockstar’, puppetry, comedy and live music with `The Amazing Drumming Monkeys’, plus the Fairy Magical Fairy Show and Mini Maestros workshops.
