Residents invited to free Global Fiesta

National Harmony Day in the City of Whitehorse will provide an opportunity for residents from Box Hill South and neighbouring suburbs to experience cultural diversity at the annual Global Fiesta.

According to Councillor Denise Massoud, the event is ideal for the entire family.

She said it is full of activities and fun experiences including delicious cuisine, stalls, music and world dance:

“When guests arrive, they can collect a Global Fiesta passport to open up a world of fun. It provides an interactive way for everyone to explore and experience different community stalls and activities and receive passport stamps for every experience on their journey.”

Young festival attendees will be spoilt for choice with everything from an animal farm and cultural games to rides and free face painting.

Identifying the Box Hill Gardens venue has, in the past, been made easy by banner printing advertising the event which is further enhanced by international musical and dance performances taking place throughout the day.

Visitors to the Global Fiesta, to be held on March 18, from noon to 4pm, will also be able to witness a traditional Smoking Ceremony presented by a Wurundjeri Elder to ward off any bad spirits and purify the area.

Also on the fiesta programme is the Walk with Harmony which takes participants on a journey around the gardens and gives them an opportunity to learn from dialogue and activities along the way.
