Canterbury-Bankstown prepares for Local Government Week

July 27, 2018 by

Residents within the catchment of the Canterbury-Bankstown City Council will have a chance to share their thoughts and ideas with the Council over the next few days.

Local Government Week 2018 will run from Saturday, July 28 to Friday, August 3. The community is encouraged to visit Council’s Have Your Say webpage to provide feedback and suggestions on the work the local government is carry out.

As part of the event, Council’s Community Engagement Team will staff pop-up stalls located at strategic points in the five wards. The booths are in areas where Council traditionally has not had strong presence and minimal interaction opportunities with the local community. The main objective is to encourage and empower individuals and groups to communicate directly with Council. It is hoped that any barriers between Council and the local community will be minimised by providing this avenue for direct communication and interaction.

The pop-up booths also aim to increase the publics’ awareness of Council programs and services outside of the “roads, rates and rubbish” space. Council is expected to distribute promotional materials during the week to raise public knowledge on the following Council activities:

Residents of Milperra are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to interact with the City Council. Visit the Canterbury-Bankstown website for more information on what is being done for Local Government Week.
