Lovers of local produce can look forward to the upcoming Great Ryrie Primary School hosts the Heathmont Farmers Market.

An authentic farmers market offering fresh produce from around the region, the event comes by once a month. Cheese, meat, honey, fresh veggies, pies and freshly baked bread are among the produce available. With over 30 stalls selling various products and food items, a quick glimpse of the banners and posters at the markets is likely to lead many to an exciting discovery.

The Heathmont Farmers Market is organised by the Regional Farmers Markets (RFM) Pty Ltd in coordination with the local council of the City of Maroondah. RFM opened its first market in 1999, with an ethos of providing true regional produce to the various markets under the brand. As per the RFM website:

“We have always had strict criteria for all stallholders to follow in bringing their authentic produce to market. We take these criteria very seriously and continuously conduct audits at each market to confirm that each stallholder is following the RFM criteria.”

With such quality standards, the idea is that attendees are assured of good produce and food when they visit the , and are helping the community raise funds at the same time.

The next market date is this Sunday, August 5, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. The market is located at 51A Great Ryrie Street Heathmont VIC 3135. Heathmont is a suburb 24km east of the Melbourne Central Business District. Head over to the Heathmont Farmers Market Facebook page for more information.
