Learn tax essentials for small business

September 9, 2018 by

The Australian Tax Office is holding a free workshop for people running or planning to run their own small businesses next month.

Starting a small business can be a complicated and stressful undertaking. People new to business ownership can be daunted by all the tasks that they need to consider and wonder where to look for help and answers. Does a small business need to register for tax? Where can owners get help with tax questions? Can graphic design costs be classed as a tax deduction, or delivery costs to Moorabbin? Visitors are invited to come along and ask the ATO staff.

The workshop will cover these kinds of questions plus business structures, quarterly and annual reporting requirements and the principles of good record keeping. The tax office staff will introduce participants to useful online resources and tools.

This will also be a chance for business owners to network over a cup of tea or coffee. Please note this workshop will not cover employer obligations which will be addressed in a separate workshop at another date.

The City of Kingston is supporting the ATO and the workshop will be held on Wednesday 10th October at the council offices 1230 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham.

The workshop will run from 10am to 12 noon. Registrations should be made online through the Eventbrite website.
