Art finalists on display in Fortitude Valley

Art from the Margins (AFTM) will have its 2018 Award Finalist Art pieces on display over the coming weeks. Art lovers are encouraged to stop by the AFTM gallery at 136 Brunswick St Fortitude Valley and check out the pieces.

The 2018 award winners were recently announced, and several have been featured on the AFTM Facebook site. The Andrews Light Up Award was won by Rhys Craig; the colourful relief painting he has called “Rhys” is his first print project of the year. The Lotus Place Art Group’s work “Unique Identity” won it the Ashburner Francis Award.

Visitors to the 2018 Outsiders Award Finalist exhibit are encouraged to take a stroll through the AFTM shop, which stocks a wide range of promotional products. These include the organization’s newly released 2019 calendar, which features the artwork of 12 unique and talented artists whose work has appeared in the AFTM gallery over the last few months. Every purchase helps generate income for the artists and helps fund AFTM’s art program.

The AFTM Outsiders Art Awards are now in their 11th year. The awards are designed to support and display the work of artists whose creative development has been limited by disability, disadvantage, homelessness, or social isolation, as this is the demographic supported by AFTM.

The works will be on display from October 15 through until November 16.
