Development to boost opportunities for small business

Commercial space for small and medium size businesses wanting to service residents in Balcatta and throughout the City of Stirling is set to increase with work on a new mixed-use development set to begin.

Delays and setbacks have hampered the project, previously known as Stirling Rise and now renamed as La Luna Stirling, since it was originally approved in 2014.

Located on a corner position at Sanderling and Cedric streets, La Luna Stirling was also the subject of a change in the appointed builder after Choice Living Homes WA was placed in administration earlier this year. A replacement was found in Palazzo Homes which will now undertake the project.

A graphic design of the $11.6 million project put forward by Developer Greenhaven Property Group and recently approved by the Development Assessment Panel for Metro North-West revealed a building comprising 14 commercial tenancies, 32 apartments, and car parking bays for 102 vehicles.

According to Stephen Corns, MJA Studio architect, the new design offered a selection of opportunities for medium and small businesses, as well as a café.

The site of La Luna Stirling is ideally situated in the central business district being only a short walk to the many retailers and facilities at Stirling Village, and the several businesses that surround it, including BWS Stirling, IGA and the Medical Centre.

It is expected that site works for the new development will begin soon.
