Treasure markets to be open longer

The Treasure Markets at Caboolture and Dakabin are now offering longer trading times.

In what Moreton Bay Council has deemed a ‘three-month trial’, the operating hours have been extended to allow locals to take full advantage of the eclectic mix of stalls on offer.

The move is in direct response to community demand, according to Cr. Adam Hain who added:

“The Treasure markets have been incredibly popular and we keep hearing that people want to be able to shop here more than just the current Friday and Saturday openings.”

The new trading hours mean shoppers can attend the markets from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. Both markets will close on Mondays.

Traditionally the markets and their hours of operation have been advertised via flyer printing and digital media.

Future promotions would need to reflect the new hours in the short term, but Hain said there is a chance the move could be ongoing.

He said the trial period, which is already operating, will end on December 15 but could be continued depending on demand.

The Treasure markets enjoy a long history in the area having been introduced 16 years ago.

Cr. Denise Sims said there were many bargains and a great range of quality goods on offer. She said during the markets operate tonnes of secondhand and donated goods like bathtubs, kitchen sinks, lounge chairs and planks of timber had been successfully recycled.
