Excellence puts Rockingham venues in finals

November 7, 2018 by

Venues in Rockingham are among the finalists in this year’s Australian Hotels Association (AHA) of WA Hospitality Awards for Excellence.

Entries reached record numbers in 2018 and were received from across the state. They represented the best in venue, product, entertainment, marketing, training and service excellence, according to organisers.

CEO of AHA (WA) Bradley Woods said the awards, held annually, recognised Western Australia’s best pubs, restaurants, bars and hotels together with outstanding achievements by employees in various fields of endeavour, adding:

“Western Australia’s hospitality industry continues to evolve remarkably and the annual Hospitality Awards for Excellence are an opportunity to acknowledge those individuals and venues that make an exceptional contribution.”

Woods, who believes levels of excellence in offerings and products were reaching new levels each year in the fast paced and increasingly competitive environment, said:

“This year the quality of the finalists has made it particularly difficult to identify winners within each category.”

He added that such a difficult choice reflected the innovation and quality of the hospitality industry in Western Australia, which is featured regularly on promotional brochure printing for visitors to the state.

Among local finalists is Hotel Clipper in the categories for ‘Best Redeveloped Venue’ and ‘Best Food and Beverage Services Employee’ for the hotel’s Natalie Van Driel.

The latter is also being contested by Rockingham’s Leisure Inn’s Sally Worsley while her associate Maria Maritz is contesting WA’s ‘Best Front Office and Administration Employee’.

The announcement of winners will be made on November 12.
