Kids to benefit from new gymnastic and swim facilities

Four suburbs, including one near Springvale, will soon host new learn to swim and gymnastics facilities.

In a recent announcement, Treasurer of Victoria, Tim Pallas said the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Loan scheme was providing a $5.35 million loan to the Belgravia Group.

He said the funds will see swimming and gymnastics facilities constructed at Noble Park North, Hoppers Crossing, Bayswater and Burnside, adding:

“Learning to swim and gymnastics are two of the most popular sports for our kids. The new facilities will ensure locals have access to participate and be involved in the community.”

A range of swimming classes for children will be on offer at the learn-to-swim pools with details expected to be available via the internet. Flyer printing is often used to promote new schemes and initiatives.

Pallas said the initiative was part of a commitment by the government to ensure all children of primary school age are able to swim a minimum 50 metres, thus lowering the risk of kids drowning. Minister for Sport John Eren said the new facilities will help locals get active, adding:

“From learn to swim classes to cartwheels, these new centres will tick all the boxes when it comes to encouraging locals to get active and will help ensure families have the necessary water skills over summer and beyond.”

The government has invested in excess of $420 million in community recreation and sport facilities since November 2014.
