Festival of Sail returns for third year

January 4, 2019 by

The 2019 City of Perth Festival of Sail is set to take place at the end of January.

The event schedule features something for everyone, including exciting races and opportunities to try sailing. The main event is the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta and this will be held outside Elizabeth Quay from Monday though to Friday. The race is open to elite youth sailors aged under 25.

Over the weekend, children and adults will be invited to ‘try sailing’ out of Elizabeth Quay. The activity is free and has proven very popular in the past. Midland residents are encouraged to attend and participate.

The Wednesday evening will see the Corporate Cup take place. This sociable competition will see the event sponsors, local businesses and high-profile sailing skippers take part in the friendly race. The networking event planned for after the race will be the perfect place to share stories and business cards.

The Women on Water event will bring the sport of sailing to 80 local businesswomen, giving them an opportunity to understand the benefits of the sport. An on-water display of small vessels and kite foilers is planned for the final day.

The free event is sponsored by the City of Perth, it starts 27 January and will run through to 1 February. Further information can be found on the Swan River Sailing and City of Perth websites.
