Art Book Fair to kick-off Design Week celebrations

The annual three-day Melbourne Art Book Fair is set to present a huge array of special guests and activities in 2019.

The event is to be held at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and is right on the doorstep for South Melbourne residents, who will be able to join thousands of visitors for workshops, keynote lectures, a day-long symposium, art displays and a bookstall marketplace. Poster printing is often employed by organisers of events such as this to raise awareness within the local community.

The impressive schedule will also include industry talks presented by eminent Australian and international guests.

In a celebration of worldwide and local publishing, the Melbourne Art Book Fair is ideal for the NGV to host, according to Director Tony Ellwood AM, who added:

“The NGV is the largest art and design publisher in the Southern Hemisphere, publishing and distributing thousands of scholarly publications since the 1860s. The Melbourne Art Book Fair highlights the role the NGV plays as a global hub for local and international publishers to celebrate the dynamic publishing industry.”

Ellwood said that in a packed programme there will be many highlights including, for the first time, a workshop by Publication Studio (PS), an international publishing network that accommodates 11 studios on four continents.

The 2019 Melbourne Art Book Fair, which will be held from March 15-17, will also signal the launch of Melbourne Design Week on March 15 to 24 with the fair kicking off the events in fine style.
