Thinking Green expands workshops for 2019 series

A programme of workshops on sustainable living will be on offer as part of the 2019 City of Swan Thinking Green series which is now into its sixth year.

Joining the traditional line-up of workshops are three events in January focused on solar battery storage. Innovative new topics to be introduced also include Integrated Pest Management, Drawing on Nature, Butterfly Gardening, The Waste-free Kitchen and Cleaning with Chemistry.

Mayor David Lucas stated that the free workshops were open to members of the community from Midland and throughout the City of Swan, adding:

“We want to help our community become more informed about how they can minimise their environmental footprint, and that is the premise behind our Thinking Green series.”

The aim, he said, was to inspire people to enjoy a sustainable lifestyle while also improving their well-being, which could result in a positive effect on the environment. The Mayor believes the diversity of the workshops ensures all interests are catered for and provides an ideal opportunity for locals to learn something.

Councillor Kevin Bailey explained that the activities in the City of Swan were not limited to the Thinking Green series, adding:

“The Switch Your Thinking programme is another local government sustainability initiative that the City is involved in and our residents are the ones who benefit from this fantastic programme.”

Improving sustainability is a topic which has been the focus of many initiatives, often advertised via flyer and brochure printing services.
