Stage star releases debut album

August 7, 2017 by

Musical theatre star Jemma Rix will be staging a one night only concert at Stafford, near Chermside, to launch her debut album.

The album, ‘Gravity’, features a compilation of the vocalist’s favourite songs from musical theatre in which she has excelled, with her latest role being the wicked witch Elphaba in ‘Wicked’.

After 1,200 stage performances as Elphaba, Rix was more than ready to turn her attention to the recording studio and her first album release.

The album features everything from power ballads such as Queen’s ‘Somebody to Love’, to the popular ‘Defying Gravity’.

Musical theatre favourites Kane Alexander and Rob Mills have also joined Rix on the album in two stunning duets.

The transition from being featured on poster printing advertising her latest stage productions, to starring on her own album cover is something that Rix believes reflects her musical preferences, while also achieving a long time goal. She said:

“The songs that I have chosen come from a variety of musicals that I have either performed in or have a deep connection with.

“My first love was pop music, so this album features the songs you would expect to hear me sing but with pop undertones you weren’t. I hope you like it!”

The launch of the new album will take place at the Hayward Street Studios on August 12.
