The changing face of work and industry is the catalyst behind the adoption of a five-year economic development strategy by Brimbank Council.

According to Brimbank Mayor John Hedditch, the implementation plan for economic development in the area, which includes Tullamarine, aims to create a resilient, prosperous community prepared to attain success in a world that is rapidly changing. He said:

“At the heart of our Economic Development Strategy and the five-year implementation plan is our commitment to build a prosperous, resilient and exciting future for our community and local businesses.

“Basically we’re going to do the hard yards preparing our economic paddocks for new plantings. Brimbank is already an important economic hub in Melbourne’s West. This plan will ensure Brimbank continues to grow and develop.”

The Mayor said that as part of the strategy Council will be assisting in the creation of more local jobs as well as in attracting 21st century industries and new investment to the area.

He said the next five years will see Council focus on support for new local businesses, business development and industry as well as helping to improve employment pathways.

Flyers have also been circulated to advertise Melbourne’s West Jobs Fair to be held at the Sunshine Convention Centre on August 31. The mayor added:
