Bestselling Australia author to speak at free event

February 3, 2017 by

The Chatswood Library has issued an invitation to people from St. Leonards and surrounding areas to attend a special presentation by Belinda Alexandra.

The bestselling Australia author will speak about ‘Southern Ruby’, her latest novel, in an event that will have been clearly marked on the calendars of all locals who admire her written works.

Willoughby Council Marketing and Events Manager Rebecca Hill said the storyline takes place against a New Orleans back drop where creole culture, jazz, voodoo, seductive night life and a city characterised by genteel old houses were commonplace.

She said the timeline focuses on a period beginning in the 1950s and continuing up until the evening of August 29, 2005, when Hurricane Katrina hit.

Hill said author Belinda Alexandra has successfully portrayed a sweeping tale of passion, family, love and honour in a story based on a couple of women separated by tragedy and time.

The central characters include Amanda, who was orphaned at a young age and is suffering after the death of her much-loved grandmother and Ruby, who has let society’s expectations constrain her but carries the secrets of a lifetime that about to be revealed.

This latest book is one of four released in Australia where the successful author has sold more than 500,000 combined copies of Southern Ruby, Sapphire Skies, Tuscan Rose, and Wild Lavender.

Bookings are essential for the free event, which will be held on February 22 at 12:30 pm.
