In a bid to help entrepreneurs and businesses in Brookvale, and across New South Wales , to embrace innovation and expand through design thinking, two free courses are now available online.

Supported by the State Government, the online have been launched recently by the University of Sydney.

Pro-Vice Chancellor University of Sydney Eric Knight urged businesses to sign up for the free five-week courses, saying:

“The partnership between the Department of Industry and University of Sydney through the Boost programme has had a huge impact on our ability to leverage internal expertise to benefit small to medium sized businesses and enterprises more broadly. The Massive Open Online Courses are just one example.”

Minister for Small Business and Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the programme is bringing together great academic and business minds to create new ideas and products to support innovation within local economies.

Whether working in print shops, manufacturing or professional services, the new courses, put together by the university together with the help of Swiss Re and UBank, aim to upskill all who participate.

Entrepreneurial managers seeking to introduce design thinking into their everyday corporate strategy will be the target of the first course, titled ‘Design strategy: Design thinking for business strategy and entrepreneurship’.

This will be followed up with the ‘Innovation Through Design: Think, Make, Break, Repeat’ course.

Each course is free with a small fee charged for the certificate issued upon completion.
