Business owners invited to attend networking workshop

Mitcham business owners are being urged to attend a workshop focused on effective business networking.

Organised by Small Business Victoria in conjunction with the Whitehorse Business Group and City of Whitehorse Council, the event is being held to help local retailers and commercial organisations benefit from networking.

According to event organisers, effective networking can generate substantial business leads and is an essential part of small business success. Handing out business cards and being friendly is a good start, but the organisers note the importance of building trust and developing a community.

The workshop will give participants a chance to learn how to not only build rapport with others, but also communicate their value effectively and quickly both online and face-to-face.

Small business operators will also be able to meet each other in an environment that will allow them to grow confidence and test new skills, guided by feedback and expert advice.

The workshop will cover several topics including how to access tools, templates, support and resources, how to deliver a 30-second business profile, how to seek out local networking groups, how to network effectively face to face and online, improving networking skills and confidence, growing a business with networking, and building rapport with simple tips and techniques.

The event will be held at the Whitehorse Civic Centre on March 20, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
