Caulfield photographer receives prize

Ian van der Wolde has been recognised at the AIPP VIC Epson Professional Photography Awards this year.

Van der Wolde takes photographs on a professional basis. The resident of Caulfield South has been in the business for over three decades, and may now wish to showcase his work further by using postcard printing in Caulfield . His move to landscape photography has been something of a diversion from his conventional work, which is driven directly by the needs of clients.

The photographer took a series of shots of winter landscapes to win the competition. The timing was considered with care as he wanted to capture scenes just before the sun went down. His long exposure technique helped him to take the prize.

Van der Wolde told the Herald Sun:

“Everything smooths out, anything that moves doesn’t show up. It’s very considered and deliberate.”

Over the last section of his career, van der Wolde has secured over 50 industry awards. He has a studio, which is located in Moorabbin.

Van der Wolde has expressed his pleasure at his latest accolade, underlining how landscape photography enables him to engage with his creative side more than his routine activities allow him to do.

The prestigious AIPP VIC Epson Professional Photography Awards are an annual event put on by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).
