Dancing for all ages to shake at the lake

February 22, 2017 by

For all lovers of dancing, whether participating or preferring to relax and watch others rock and roll, a “Shake at the Lake” dance day will be held next month in Blackburn, near Mitcham.

Many different dance styles will be displayed by local performers to appeal to all tastes in the City of Whitehorse’s Swing, Pop and Boom event series.

Performers will include Melbourne-based crooner Frank Benedetto, Redline (whose music encompasses hits from the 1980s to current popular music) and local group the Intrepid Hounds, who play their own arrangements of favourites by many popular, household name artists over the years, including Stevie Wonder, James Brown, the Neville Brothers and Joe Cocker.

Food will be available for purchase in the form of a sausage sizzle and ice cream and drink vans, and children can enjoy the talents of face painters. Banner printing is usually in use at this kind of performance, and there may also be promotional products offered by some of the entertainers.

Visitors can enjoy Shake at the Lake on Sunday, March 26 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary. However, if the weather is hot and a total fire ban is declared, the event will instead be moved to Halliday Park on 308 Mitcham Road in Mitcham. Dancers of all ages are welcome.
