Revamped heritage drive map launched

January 29, 2016 by

A 50-kilometre drive through Penrith, New South Wales ’ history is now available following the launch of a new look map for visitors.

The update of the Penrith Heritage Drive map has now been completed and relaunched, providing a fascinating course of discovery that incorporates 27 of the area’s most well known historical locations, structures and buildings dating back to the 19th Century.

According to Mayor of Penrith Karen McKeown, full colour printing has ensured a quality map full of photographs and information about the 27 locations open for viewing by the public at no cost.

The sites, she added, were not only fascinating, but also educational for both visitors and residents.

The Heritage Drive travels through rural and urban areas, as well as the CBD, and alongside Penrith’s majestic Nepean River with a backdrop of the Blue Mountains.

The Mayor said the experienced provided a great day out for the entire family.

The history of Penrith is a topic covered extensively at the local library, where anyone wishing to gain more information about any of the historic sites on the map is welcome, according to Information librarian Lorraine Stacker.

The library, which also offers digital copying and document scanning facilities, has a comprehensive list of history pages online.

Copies of the map can be obtained from the civic centre and library branches, and can also be downloaded via
