Digital technology puts DEK in winner’s seat

A technologies business in Print company in Broadmeadows printing services Broadmeadows that concentrates on constructing products that handle an estimated 40% of mobile calls worldwide has received the top honour in the 2017 Hume Business Awards.

DEK Technologies, which Hume Mayor Cr. Drew Jessop said also worked on infrastructure products for new 5G mobiles, was named Business of the Year for leadership and innovation.

“DEK Technologies is one of a few technology companies in the region with specialist knowledge to develop products, tools and protocols – that puts it in a unique and powerful position in the telecommunications industry.”

The Mayor said the company, which has grown from three engineers to employing almost 400 people, is an amazing example of the area’s advancing digital industry.

Another achievement that can be added to the firm’s business cards is its success as winners of this year’s Professional Services Award and Export Business Award.

Other businesses in Hume to receive recognition included a Sunbury landscaping business called Love it Landscaping that together with Troy Director, Managing Director, took out Business Leader Award and Small Business Award respectively.

Meanwhile, the Manufacturing (Large) Business Award was won by DVR Engineering, a defence armour manufacturer in Coolaroo.

Mayor Jessop said more than 100,000 people were employed by local businesses in Hume, which represented everything from retail and hospitality, to logistics and transport.

The mayor added that he has always been impressed with the breadth of innovation and range of activities displayed.
