The central district of Geelong will come alive for just one night in May, with a large number of performances and entertainment throughout the city.

Theevent is held annually with local performance artists taking over streets, lanes and entertainment sites. This year the theme of the event is The Sound of Light.

Geelong After Dark has been entertaining locals since 2014 and has grown to include attendances of 15,000 people last year, with 370 performers planning to participate this year. More than 80 activities will be taking place and children will be urged to also share in the events, such as the Amazing Arts Adventure, many of which will be interactive. Another such activity will be The Storytelling Machine in which visitors can draw characters that can be instantaneously converted to animation.

Presented by the City of Greater Geelong and Diversitat, it will be an experience catering to all ages. Diversitat is a not-for-profit organisation supporting multicultural and disadvantaged local communities, seeking to empower them to reach their full potential while promoting environmental sustainability. Performers are likely to use vibrant signs and banner printing in an event such as this.

Geelong After Dark will begin at 6:00 pm and run until 10:00 pm on Friday, May 5 in the Geelong CBD. Visitors of all ages will be welcome.
