Footscray food lovers have the chance to indulge their taste buds later this month with the eat.drink.westside festival.

The event is part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, which runs from Friday February 28th to Sunday March 16th.

During the festival, several of Maribyrnong's restaurants and food-related businesses opening their doors for special events, with many taking place in Footscray.

Residents will be able to try food and enjoy displays from different cultures, including traditional Ethiopian dance and food, French food paired with Scandinavian literature and regional Vietnamese cuisine.

On Saturday March 8th, food lovers can challenge themselves by taking part in the Foodscray Race, which will see teams of two searching the area for ingredients for Vietnamese, Indian and African soup.

Other events include a demonstration by three Melbourne brewers, a walk along the Maribyrnong River to discover the plants used by indigenous people and an early morning chance to explore Melbourne’s seafood industry.

With so many options to choose from, residents should look out for flyer printing or poster printing advertising the events, or special menus during the festival, so they do not miss anything. Some of the events are already selling out, so residents need to book their spots soon.
