Residents from Heathmont and surrounding areas are gearing up to attend the 28th annual Maroondah Festival.

Flyer and poster printing is undertaken each year to alert families to the major local event which brings the focus on community and cultural celebrations.

According to a Maroondah Festival spokesman, an exciting programme has been prepared for the enjoyment of all age groups attending the free event.

It will include a wide range of activities and low-cost entertainment.

Performances, workshops and demonstrations by local performers who have been inspired by cultures and music will feature on the Sounds of Maroondah Stage.

The spokesman said the Maroondah Got Talent Competition will also be held along with traditional and community performances where festival patrons will be able to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

The Platypus Junction Eastland Kids Kingdom, which has become a perennial favourite, will once again transform the Town Park’s picturesque lawns into an enchanted area of activities, interactive games and free rides for young festival attendees.

Food lovers will be inspired by live cooking demonstrations to be held on the Tastes of Maroondah Stage, which will celebrate and showcase the city’s diverse flavours, influences and multi-cultural cuisines.

The festival, to be held on November 12 from 10am to 4pm has earned a reputation for being the biggest free community event held in Melbourne’s East.
