The 2017 Valley Fiesta in Fortitude Valley will feature a great lineup of performers for its 21st edition.

Hip-hop star Fatman Scoop and The Jungle Giants from Brisbane have been announced as two of the acts to entertain at the event, which annually attracts up to 65,000 patrons and fans.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said a packed music programme has been put together across three stages located in the Brunswick Street and Chinatown Malls, and added:

“The Jungle Giants and Fatman Scoop will headline the Valley Fiesta main stage in Brunswick Street and will be joined by over 50 acts, bands and performers across the weekend.”

He said flyer printing for the event will also list other local artists. including Concrete Surfers, The Jensens and Velociraptor.

The Valley Fiesta, he said, provided a great platform on which to showcase the city’s emerging talent, with the event to include a local and live music competition together with a new Breakdance Showcase.

The annual event, launched in 1997, is among 50,000 events, festivals and markets supported by Council each year.

Cr. Quirk said the Fiesta Laneway Series of alfresco dining pop-ups and music in Bakery Lane will also feature once again as part of the programme.

Local Councillor Vicki Howard said that the Fiesta had grown to become much more than a simple street party, with the celebration now also including street theatre, photography and food.

The 2017 Valley Fiesta will be held from October 27 to 28.
