Foodies whet their appetites for nutrition course

A free four-week course on food and nutrition is soon to be held at the Cannington Library.

Nearby residents of Welshpool will be able to spend Tuesday mornings in June learning how to shop for, as well as how to prepare, healthy meals. The Food Sensations Workshop has been organised by FoodBank WA, in partnership with the Department of Health.

The first session will cover the basics of healthy eating, while subsequent sessions will cover reading of food labels, food budgeting and menu planning, as well as tips for a healthy mind and body. This is a hands-on course and all materials will be provided by the organisers.

The Cannington Library is one of four that serve the City of Canning, and is the closest to Welshpool. All four libraries provide courses of interest to locals, and nearby printing companies can provide booklet printing, flyers and brochures to aid in the participation of courses.

The Cannington Library can be found at the corner of Sevenoaks Street and Wharf Street, in the Cannington Leisureplex.

The Food Sensations course will start on Tuesday, June 6, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm, with three further sessions at the same time on the next three Tuesdays – June 13, 20 and 27. The course is free but booking is essential through Eventbrite.
