Pop culture will be celebrated in Melbourne next month when this year’s Supanova Expo comes to the city.

Fans of science fiction, comic books, anime and gaming will be in their element at the event, which includes appearances by big name stars, exhibitions of props and costumes, and the chance to win prizes in competitions.

This year, Lucy Lawless, who played Xena Warrior Princess, and Verne Troyer, who played Mini Me in the Austin Powers movies, will be among the guests. Peter Mayhew, famous for playing Chewbacca in the Stars Wars films, and several actors from The Hobbit will join them.

Many of the stars will be available to sign autographs and to pose for photos with fans. Printing companies can produce large high quality prints from digital images, providing a lifelong memento of the event.

Fans from West Melbourne will also find rare merchandise stalls and cartoon screenings, and visitors even have the chance to show off their own skills with a model and prop competition, as well as a fan art competition.

The expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds, starting with a preview night on Friday 11th April when people can purchase tokens for autograph and photo sessions. The event will be open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April. Tickets and full details are available on the Supanova website.
