Gladiators to get new look

FC Brisbane City, nicknamed the Gladiators, are about to be given a new lease of life.

The soccer side is to be provided with a new image. Ballymore Stadium is to be refurbished, and the team will receive a fresh logo. Local organisations looking for advice on their brands often consult marketing services in Chermside .

The Football Federation of Australia (FFA) is supporting an effort by the Gladiators to be part of the A-League.

At the moment, Melbourne and Sydney have two teams each in the A-League. The vision is that Brisbane should join them. Derby matches between the Gladiators and the Roar could raise the profile of the sport.

A consortium has formed to promote FC Brisbane City going forward. Business executive Robert Cavallucci is backing the initiative. The former state politician said:

“Our bid is complete. Our funding model is secure. We are ready to join the A-League. In our view, Brisbane is ready for two teams as well. To think it can't support two teams is misguided.”

The proposal supporting the move has been released, and covers a wide range of issues. These include a focus on transport infrastructure, women’s football and supporter engagement. The need to consider Indigenous development been overlooked, and the idea of getting the Gladiators into the A-League seems to have secured the support of Fox Sports.
