Glen Ave property draws top offers and quick sale

An immaculately transformed 1940s home in Croydon, Victoria has sold for $1.229 million.

The sale price of the `Sussex Downs’ property in Glen Avenue is among the top achieved for homes during 2016 in the suburb.

McGrath Croydon’s Scott McAuliffe, who sold the property, said the property came complete with a modern makeover and swimming pool.

He said the original intention had been to take the property to auction in January 2017 but a high level of interest gauged from extensive marketing services led to offers being taken with a closing date of Boxing Day.

From a field of 57 groups who inspected the property over a 10-day period, he said, five firm offers were received.

Mr McAuliffe said the final sales figure exceeded all expectations and placed the home among Croydon’s highest priced houses last year.

The successful purchasers, a couple from Camberwell, have told the real estate agent they intend to live in the home which bears the name of its original owner’s homeland in England.

Since its construction 70 years ago, the holding had been subdivided and the home sat at the rear of the resultant two properties.

Features in the modernised home included spotted gum flooring and stone benchtops in the stylish kitchen.

Mr McAuliffe said a pool, fireplaces, beautiful fixtures throughout and high ceilings together with an immaculate finish with no expense spared, proved extremely appealing to potential buyers.
