November 6, 2017 by

Individuals and community groups in Broadmeadows are being called on to apply for funding to help showcase their talents.

The offer comes as Hume City Council prepares for the staging of the Broadmeadows Street Festival scheduled to take place on April 8, 2018.

Applicants will vie for a chance to share in a $25,000 funding package on offer to help them bring attention to their skills through activities and performances at the event.

According to a Council spokesman, the initiative was introduced to encourage greater participation by all attending the festival, while also displaying the many talented people who live within the Hume community.

Grants for the production, showcasing and development of various activities, including printing services, will be provided in a number of categories. They include Displays such as handicrafts and costumes; Food including cooking demonstrations; Art such as light projection or photographic displays and short film; and Performance including poetry, theatre, dance and song.

All activities submitted are required to take place as part of the Broadmeadows Street Festival next year.

Organisations or groups applying will also need to be not-for-profit, incorporated and able to show limited financial resources or minimal opportunities to fundraise.

Funding of up to $2,500 will be available for successful applicants.

Applications, which close on December 15, can be downloaded and hand delivered or mailed or, alternatively, completed online via the council website from November 15.
