Holiday fun planned for Kingston City

July 4, 2015 by

School holidays are fast approaching, but there will be no need for Braeside youngsters to get bored during the break, with plenty of activities on offer throughout the City of Kingston for all ages.

Braeside Park will play host to several sessions run by Monash University in July as part of its holiday science programme.

On Thursday, July 9th, there will be a chance to find out more about the insects that live in the park’s wetlands and what can affect the habitat in which they live.

On Friday, July 10th, green-fingered youngsters can find out more about the plants in the park, learn how to propagate plants and take home a plant for their collection at home.

Each topic will be run over two sessions – one suitable for young children and one for older students. Residents should look out for poster printing advertising session times and other details.

City of Kingston libraries will also be running a number of activities, including paper plane competitions, workshops to create picture books, and screenings of popular movie Paddington. Meanwhile, the Kingston Arts Centre will be running drawing and play-writing workshops, a Lego robot-building competition and a magic workshop.

A list of all the events can also found on the City of Kingston council website. Activities run from the end of June until the middle of July.
