IKEA North Lakes plans fun Open Day to mark start of trading

Residents will be invited to a special Open Day to celebrate the long-awaited opening of the new IKEA store at North Lakes, Queensland.

A spokesman for IKEA said residents from the host suburb and surrounding areas will be able to enjoy a full day of activities to mark the opening.

At the same time, he said, opening day crowds will have an opportunity to shop at the store for the first time.

The store has been widely anticipated and written about as part of local newsletter printing, according to the spokesman.

Store Manager Stefano Bizzarri said in the lead up to the grand opening on November 17, staff will be assembling 20,000 pieces of IKEA furniture for use n independent displays throughout the 6,000sqm showroom.

The 28,000sqm store will also host a 6,000sqm market hall, office space and a self-serve warehouse covering 8000sqm.

Mr. Bizzarri said North Lakes IKEA, which is Queensland’s second store, will include a number of features that will appeal to home makers on the Sunshine Coast including integrated outdoor living spaces leading into store room sets.

In addition to the IKEA store opening, local shoppers will also welcome the opening of 60 new outlets in Westfield’s new mall plus more car parking.

These include Sportsgirl, JB Hifi, Kmart, Rebel Sport, Juice Farmacy, Coffee Hit, Kathmandu and more.
