Kids TRYathlon to take place near Brisbane next month

Children from all over Brisbane, particularly those from Slacks Creek and Logan, are in training for the 2013 Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon, which takes place next month.

The race is part of a series of events held around Australia, all of which have the aim of getting children involved in healthy activities. This year’s ambassador for the Logan event is Leisel Jones, Olympic gold medal winner and Australia’s most successful breaststroke swimmer.

Leading up to the event, kids are encouraged to follow the training program, as outlined by famous Ironman Guy Leach. He provides tips on health and nutrition as well as a step-by-step plan to build up fitness in preparation for the big race. Participants in the training program have the chance to win prizes, simply by keeping a diary of their progress.

Those who register will receive an event kit from Australia Post, and upon checking in at the event, an Arena Swim Cap is provided to all competitors. Athletes will even have body numbers applied, just like the professional world class triathletes. Children as young as seven can compete in a course, which covers a 100m swim, 3km of cycling and a 500m run. The 11-15 year age group will be racing twice the distance.

Value pack photos captured by the official event photographer are also available. These quality mementos, laminated by Slacks Creek printing services, are sure to be a hit with all the family. The Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon will take place on Sunday 19th May 2013.
