Laugh along at Comedy Festival Allsorts show in Richmond

A special introduction to the comic talent that will be performing at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival will take place at The Owl and the Pussycat in Richmond.

Tickets have just gone on sale for the April event, which will showcase the talent of emerging funnymen and women.

Put together by the Melbourne Renegades, the show, Allsorts, will showcase local comedians who have created individual and innovative ways to make audiences laugh.

A spokesman for the organisers said those attending the show will be treated to a combination of standup comedy together with storytelling and a sweet array of music.

He said it is likely the faces on stage will be extremely familiar as many will be appearing on poster printing enlisted to promote ensemble and solo shows in which the artists are also appearing throughout the festival.

In addition to making people laugh at the Owl and the Pussycat live gig, proceeds from the show will also be put towards assisting the Port Phillip Eco-centre, which was set up to help protect nature and connect communities throughout metropolitan Melbourne.

The Renegades, who organised the event, are a comedy collective that helps promising new comedians gain opportunities to showcase their work, cheered on by appreciative audiences. The group’s shows have featured in many major events including the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Melbourne Ukulele Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Allsorts will be presented on April 5, 6 and 7 in Richmond, Victoria.
