Live Lighter festival celebrating Spring in East Perth

October 4, 2016 by

With spring traditionally recognised as a time of new life and a fresh start, East Perth will herald the season this year with the Live Lighter Perth Basant Festival.

Celebrating the diversity within the community, the festival will bring food and drink, music, and arts and crafts to people of all ages and cultures.

Coordinated by So Change Inc, this is the second annual Basant Festival. So Change Inc was established to provide support for migrants and refugees in their search for housing and employment, and to assist them in settling into the Australian community.

More than 15 entertainers will be performing with an eclectic variety of music styles, including folk and pop music, Australian indigenous performers, as well as music from other cultures such as African, Indian, Asian, and Middle Eastern.

With an estimated 15,000 visitors during the day, food and craft stalls will be plenteous and workshops and presentations will be on offer for those interested. Children will be entertained with rides and bouncy castles, face painting and kite flying. Flyers, banner printing and poster printing are likely to be used in the promotion.

The festival will be held on Saturday, November 5 from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Belmont Racecourse on Goodwood Parade in Burswood, East Perth. Entry will be free.
