Locals to meet some fine feathered friends

July 12, 2018 by

Those looking for something different to amuse the kids in the school holidays may wish to head down to Logan Super Centre.

Local group Boutique Birds will have some of its hand-reared birds on display and will give people the chance to get friendly with their feathered charges. Children will be able to pet and feed the birds.

Working with reputable breeders, the members of Boutique Birds hand-rear chicks of peachfaces, cockatoos, cockatiels, lorikeets, budgies and other birds before weaning them onto pellets, seed, and fresh vegies and fruit.

Boutique Birds have been at Logan Super Centre in Slacks Creek from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm every day this week, so can still be seen today or tomorrow.

There will be another opportunity to meet a feathered friend at Logan Central Library, where Calypto, a Glossy Black Cockatoo, will be making a visit. With their red tail panels, these birds would look good in a logo design.

Australian Bush Buddies will bring along Calypto, a cheeky one-year old male, so that people can have the chance to see and hear a member of this locally threatened species. There will also be a showing of the movie Fern Gully and craft activities.

Bird lovers can meet Calypto at Logan Central Library today, July 12, between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. There is no charge for this activity.
