Marathon challenge to take place on the Gold Coast next month

Keen runners from Burleigh Heads will have the chance to test themselves next month, when the Gold Coast Airport Marathon takes place in the area.

There are four race categories for adults – a full marathon, half marathon, a 10 kilometre run and a 5.7 kilometre dash. There is also a special children's event with a course of two or four kilometres, as well as a wheelchair race.

Runners will need plenty of encouragement, especially towards the finish line, and banner printing is a great way to show support for the people taking part in the race.
The course will be challenging, but should also be a fun route to run, following the coast between Burleigh Heads and Runaway Bay.

As well as amateur runners, the event has also attracted professional athletes from across Australia and around the world, including Japan, Africa and the United Kingdom, with visiting participants hoping to break the current fastest time records.

Anyone wanting to enter any of the events needs to register in advance to receive an official race number and information pack. Runners can also choose to run either for the marathon’s official charity, Cancer Council Queensland, or to raise money for their own charitable cause.

Paper entries are now closed, but participants can still register online or in person at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach until 8:00pm on Friday July 5th. For more information, visit the Gold Coast Marathon website.
